Dear Families,
It has been a pleasure meeting so many of you! I look forward to learning more about your families. Joe Holtmeier, the maintenance department and parish office staff are working diligently to prepare the school for your children and faculty! So much planning and energy goes into each new school year!
Summer is an ideal time for students to strengthen their skills; we still have plenty of summer to enjoy!!. Studies show that children who read over the summer achieve greater scores on reading assessments in the fall than those who read only one or no books at all. Remember, all ages love it when someone reads to them!
We hope you and your family will read many stories during the rest of the summer and reap all of the wonderful benefits that reading has to offer! By encouraging your student to read, keep a writing journal, and practice basic math, you can support your child’s passion for learning and build his/her academic self-esteem and confidence in the 2017-2018 school year. Also, the Washington Library is full of ideas and books to help engage your child in summer reading. Be sure to take advantage of this great resource.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to assist your family for the remainder of your child’s summer learning.
Enjoy the summer days ahead and we will see you in August!
