In November of 2003, we embarked on a new fundraising project known as Shop ‘n Earn or “Scrips”. We knew that this fundraising format had been successful in other parishes, but we had to see for ourselves what this shopping cart fundraiser was all about!
The purpose of this is to serve as an introduction for those who have not yet learned about our Shop & Earn program.
Scrip is a term for substitute money. You pay face value for your gift card or certificate and receive full value when you use it. A negotiated percentage (determined by the merchant) is divided in half between the Parish School Operating Budget and the family of your choice. In the event that you have no relatives to contribute to, alternate choices are available for your other 50%. Crediting of accounts are done in May and reflected on the June tuition statements in the case of the Parish Grade School and Parish School of Religion. St. Francis Borgia Regional High School parents will receive a tuition credit statement in June before tuition is due.
Inventory has been purchased for those who would rather buy on the spot. We base our inventory selection on past purchasing trends. Inventory can be purchased whenever the Shop & Earn Office is open. Our hours are posted in the bulletin, on Schoolspeak and on our office door.
Scrips orders may be done simply through inventory purchases, or in the case of non-inventory items, orders are placed by 9:30 am Monday and are ready for pick-up on Friday after 2:30. Orders can also be placed at www.shopwithscrip.com. This can be done with prestopay debit payment or a check sent in by 9:30 a.m. Monday. Orders can also be placed on a smartphone with the myscripwallet app. This does require a prestopay debit payment. We do allow students to drop off orders and payments at the grade school and with written permission pick up as well.
Schnucks Community Cards are part of the scrip program. Just carry the community card, swipe it at the register and based on your monthly shopping $ total, your % credit will be sent to the parish office. Since this tiered % return is capped at 3% on $600 or more a month there will be no split with the School Operating budget. We have been assured that parishioners without school families contribute as much if not more to the fund so their money will go to the School Operating Budget.
